The composition Sky Bends Dark is created from the sound of Super Typhoon Mangkhut and open-source solar data captured between September 16, 2018 and June 12, 2019 in Hong Kong. Temporal data is utilized to process the sound frequency components of the storm and to express relationships between isolated events; the start date of the data set corresponds with the day of the typhoon, while the end date references a crosspoint in the 2019–2020 Hong Kong protests. The timeline of solar values is manifested as a fluctuation of sound intensities that reflect the elemental and political rhythms of Hong Kong.
